LAUNCH |
| Even though catapult launchings were a common occurrence, they always drew a crowd of onlookers. |

Preparing for launch Questions? What was the G-force just after the catapult charge went off? What was the needed speed to achieve takeoff? |

|
Nearing the end of the catapult over the aft part of turret 3 6,000 pound airplane had 57 feet of "runway" in which to get airborne. At launching, the plane sat on a dolly, extending over the gun barrels of Turret #3. Must have been a pretty good kick-in-the-seat for the pilot and radio operator when the catapult charge fired. |
